There are several regulations and laws that the LSDC operates under; the Special Acts of 1967 which is the legislation that created the LSDC, the rules and regulations of the LSDC which are created by the LSDC, and several Code of Massachusetts Regulations which are enacted by the Massachusetts Legislature and managed by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection. Additionally, there are rules and regulations of the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) and a Department of Environmental Protection Administrative Consent Order which the LSDC must comply with in order to discharge our wastewater for treatment to the MWRA's treatment facility.
These collectively determine what actions can and cannot be taken by the LSDC and property owners within the LSDC.
