Requesting an Account Closeout

All customer closeouts must be requested at least ten days in advance.

Requests can be made by calling the District office at 978-385-7016 or by emailing lsdc_admin@verizon.net
Your closeout will generally be expedited when requested via email.

When contacting the LSDC for a closeout, please provide the following information:

Customer name of record
Service Number (for usage closeout)
Street address for service
Effective date of customer closeout
Contact Phone Number
email address for transmitting documents (preferred) or, a mailing address

Additionally, please specify if you are requesting a usage closeout, a betterment closeout, or both.

In the case of a usage account closeout a bill will be issued directly to the requesting party. The bill will be an estimate based on the average daily use for the account through the closeout date plus any outstanding balance on the account. This bill can be paid by mailing payment to the LSDC office or by visiting the office during open hours.

In the case of a betterment account closeout a bill will be issued simultaneously to the customer and to the Town Collector's office. Two checks must be provided to the collectors office in order to close the account: A $75 check for the Worcester County Registry of Deeds and a check for the balance of the betterment account. This bill MUST be mailed or paid in person at the Town of Lancaster Collector's office.

Upon receipt of funds, Town Collector's office signs off on and transmits lien release document to the Worcester Registry of Deeds.  A copy of the signed lien release is provided to the customer and to the LSDC.
