Abatement Process
From time to time, customers may run into circumstances where there has been an error in the calculation of their bill. These calculation errors can occur due to bad data reported to the District or prior payments being recorded incorrectly. Additionally, there may be circumstances where customers can quantify water use that was clearly not discharged to the sewer, such as a new pool fill up.
In all these cases, the customer must file for an abatement to have these charges removed from their bill. You can download the Usage Abatement Request Form to file with the LSDC from our Forms and Permits page.
Any petition for abatement must be filed in writing to the Lancaster Sewer District Commission within 6 months of the date reflected in the "billing date" section from the front of your bill. Abatements will be considered by the Commission on a case-by-case basis. Approved abatements will be reflected in the next billing period.
