Doing Business With The LSDC

Licensed Contractors

Contractors doing business in the LSDC on District Sewers must be licensed by the District.  The District has two classifications of contractors:  Drainlayers and Sewer Utility Contractors.  The list of approved contractors is updated from time to time by the District.


Drainlayers
Any building sewer installation, repair or maintenance work shall only be performed by a drain layer who possesses a valid drainlayers License issued by the Commission.  The LSDC accepts permit applications for drainlayers on an open basis with licenses requiring renewal each calendar year in January


Issuance of License.  Licenses to install building sewers and make connections to the common sewer will be issued to experienced and competent contractors. An initial fee as determined by the commissioners must accompany all applications for licenses.  Licenses must be renewed for each calendar year.  Drainlayers doing work hereunder shall maintain minimum insurance coverage as determined by the commissioners and as set forth in the attached schedule of fees and shall file a certificate of same with the Board.


Bonds and Insurance.  Drainlayers shall post a bond in an amount as determined by the commissioners and as set forth in the attached schedule of fees to assure the satisfactory completion of work. Bond shall remain in full effect for a period of one year after satisfactory completion of the most recent work performed by the Drainlayer. The drainlayer shall repair without cost to the property owner or District any defects in the work of parts of the work furnished or built by hem and any damage due to faulty workmanship on his part or due to faulty or imperfect material or equipment furnished by him, which defects or damage may appear within one year from the date of completion of the work.


Sewer Utility Contractors

This class of license is issued to contractors who are performing larger connections or sewer main extensions.  It is required for all sewer extensions, sewer main installations, repairs or maintenance work shall only be performed by a Contractor who possesses a valid Sewer Utilities License issued by the Commission.
